Andreas Ottensamer, Clarinet
Andreas Ottensamer was born in 1989 in Vienna, Austria to a family of musicians.
Since March 2011 he holds the Principal Clarinet position with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
At the age of 4 he recieved his first Piano lessons and since 1999 studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
He interrupted his liberal arts studies at the renown Harvard University in the USA to join the Karajan-Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic in 2009.
Shortly after, Ottensamer won the Principal Clarinet position with the Deutsche Symphonie Orchester (DSO) Berlin.
The First Prize winner of numerous competitions with the instruments Clarinet, Violincello, and Piano performs as a Soloist all over Europe and on tour in Japan and the USA.
As for chamber music, his partners are artists such as Leif Ove Andsnes, Murray Peraiha, Thomas Hampson, Angelika Kirchschlager, Julian Rachlin, Benjamin Schmid, Veronika Hagen, Yo-Yo Ma as well as members of the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic.
In 2005 Andreas Ottensamer together with his father Ernst and brother Daniel, both holding the Principal Clarinet position with the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera, founded “The Clarinotts”. Many pieces have been dedicated to the trio and they have recorded a CD with Octavia Records and Gramola Vienna.
