Klaus Schilde
Born in Dresden in 1926. Studied music and piano education from famous pianists such as Walter Engel, Hugo Steurer, Walter Giesegging, Edwin Fischer, Margrid Ronn, and Nadia Boulanger. After studying at the Dresden Music University, he studied at the Leipzig University of Music. While still a student, he won the International F. List Prize in 1947 and the Dresden CMv Weber Prize in 1948. In 1957, he won the Long-Thibaud International Competition Paris Prize. In 1947, he started performing concerts as a soloist. He has collaborated with prominent European orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, and has since toured regularly in South America, Mexico, the United States, Scandinavian countries, South Korea, and Japan. In addition to solo performances, he is also active in chamber music activities with stringed instruments. After serving as a professor at the Detmold University of Music and the West Berlin University of the Arts, he served as president of the Munich University of Music from 1988 to 1991. He also serves as a judge at international competitions such as Long-Thibault and Munich. From 1994 to 1999, he was a visiting professor at the Faculty of Music at Tokyo University of the Arts, and at the same time served as a lecturer at Kunitachi College of Music and Elisabeth College of Music. Since 2001, he has been a visiting professor at the Weimar Hochschule für Musik. In addition, at recitals in various places, the development of the well-crafted musical ideas evokes a certain impression in the hearts of the audience, and is highly praised from all quarters.
