Thomas Bauer has been hailed by critics and audiences as one of the most captivating vocalists. In concert reviews with numerous orchestras, he was praised for his "genuine strength" and "remarkably accurate vocalization, strong, moving and wonderfully resonant baritone sound" (Opernglas).
As a concert vocalist, he has performed as a guest at the Beethoven Festival Bonn, singing Beethoven's song cycle "Far Away Lover", Mendelssohn's "Saint Paul" at the Musik Podium Festival in Stuttgart, and Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Chorwerk Ruhr. , Ensemble Pygmalion, and Anima Eterna. Appeared in a concert series as an Artist in Residence at the Palais des Beaux-Arts BOZAR in Brussels. He has also achieved a great deal of success in singing, frequently collaborating with the fortepiano specialist Jos van Immazel and the pianist and composer Kit Armstrong. He holds a recital series featuring Bach's orchestrations. In opera, he sang Bernd Alois Zimmermann's "Soldiers" (Director: Alvis Hermanis, Conductor: Ingo Metzmacher) at La Scala, Milan, and received high acclaim. He has sung many world premiere opera works and won the Schneider Schott Music Award. There are also many collaborations with Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki.
The CD has also won numerous awards. Recent award winners include Jörg Widmann's oratorio "ARCHE" and Bach's Christmas Oratorio.
As a child, he received a musical education in the Regensburg Cathedral Choir, and then studied vocal music at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts. He is also the founder of the auditorium of the Konzerthaus in Breibach, which opened in 2014 and is an architectural masterpiece with excellent concerts.
