Thomas E. Bauer, baritone
The German baritone, Thomas E. Bauer, received his basic musical training as member of the Regensburger Domspatzen. He studied singing with Hanno Blaschke and Siegfried Mauser at the Hochschule für Musik Munich, graduating with distinction.
After his opera debut under the direction of August Everding at the Prinzregententheater in Munich in 1997, he performed acclaimed title parts at the Salzburg Festival, the Munich Biennale and the Ruhrtriennale.
He is working on current projects with celebrated conductors like Philippe Herreweghe, Frieder Bernius, HK Gruber, Marcus Creed, Christoph Poppen, Hanns-Martin Schneidt, Ralf Otto and their orchestras and is performing at the Philharmonies of Munich and Berlin, at the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Palais des Beaux Arts Bruxelles, among others. He has been awarded numerous prizes, including the Bavarian Federal Government and the Ernst von Siemens Music Endowment Fund. Other awards came from the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris and the German Music Competition.
For his excellent perfomances in the field of contemporary music, in 2003 he is being awarded the first Schneider Schott Music Prize to be awarded to a vocalist.
